DAWINSHWA

A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT BY Christelle Fourie

[Her story] will no doubt inspire all of us facing impossible moments."

"Our God Heals"

South African Christelle Fourie once believed God guaranteed a perfect life for His faithful followers. Wasn’t she living proof? Loving family. Wonderful, handsome husband. Miraculous healing from a deadly brain bleed. Exciting career and ministry in her new home, Sweden. God had even given her a divine word—Dawinshwa, meaning “Our God Heals.” Then tragedy struck with the death of twin daughters born at twenty-three weeks gestation. Two miscarriages. A son born with Down Syndrome. A second son arriving two months premature. So what do we do when an all-powerful God who can heal miraculously chooses not to? Is He still God? Does He just not care? How should a child of God respond when God doesn’t answer prayers as we hope He will? Christelle tells her story to share wonderful truths God revealed during her own wrestling with sorrow and loss. First, regardless of circumstances and perception, God hadn’t abandoned her but was there all the time, loving and upholding her in His strong, tender hands. Second, our eternal God doesn’t see healing or death as we do from a solely physical perspective. He made a way for every person to enjoy complete healing, eternal life, and reunion with loved-ones gone ahead though His Son Jesus Christ on the cross. This is the ultimate message of Dawinshwa. Our God heals!

"Like a magnifying glass, Christelle's honest vulnerability in this book allows a glimpse into the raw pain and loss she's experienced while simultaneously highlighting God's glorious and redemptive provision and healing."

"Christelle bravely shares the darkest moments of her walk with God, helping others who are also trying to reconcile unfair situations where God seems distant and uninvolved. She has remained true to Christ, not just in victories and answered prayer but also in the deep pain out of which this book has been written. [Her story] will no doubt inspire all of us facing impossible moments."

"Christelle Fourie, along with her husband Matthew, convincingly make the case that difficulties and suffering need not be our enemy. Their journey, and in particular Christelle's, is an emotionally raw account of facing head-on disappointment and anger. No mother anticipates the loss and grief Christelle faced. Her painful processing is inspirational—though not for a moment simple, much less sought for. Some people jettison faith in God during suffering. But it is her faith that gave Christelle a perspective that brought hope and joy. Yes, joy! I hope this book increases your trust in our heavenly Father and gives you a glimpse into the journey of a remarkable young woman."
